Souter Lighthouse – National Trust

We have undertaken a number of Quinquennial Inspections on the property and have supervised a major reroof of the ancilliary buildings with new Welsh slate including the provision of replacement slate hips and ridge tiles to match the original unusual design.  Other work has included replacement boilers and conversion of the former paint store to an ice cream kiosk.

Cherryburn – National Trust

This is the former home and birthplace of Thomas Bewick.  We have now carried out three Quinquennial Inspections providing advice and schedules of maintenance required.

Farne Islands – National Trust

The buildings on the Farne Islands include the Prior Castell’s Tower and St Cuthbert’s Chapel,  both Grade 1 Listed and Scheduled Ancient Monuments.  In addition to routine Quinquennial inspections we have supervised major structural repairs to the Tower together with repointing and stone repairs and reroofing in Code 8 leadwork.  Major building work in this location is always difficult due to the location 3 miles across the sea from Seahouses,  lack of water and electricity supplies and need to avoid interference or disturbance to the wildlife.
